Renovations at 515 King Street are underway!

We are excited to report the demolition of our new office space has begun. The former occupant’s suite is largely cleared of the debris and remnants of the prior aesthetic which was dark wood paneling and traditional fluted columns everywhere – not our style!

Our Motto for 2023 might as well be “Out with the old, in with the new!

Double doors will open into our new office suite which is on the fourth floor directly across from the elevator, one floor up from our current temporary suite.  We’re planning a sleek, modern, light-filled space outfitted with the latest technology and expansive space in which to better focus on serving our clients.

Our suite’s windows will overlook Old Town’s King Street and the historic Alexandria Courthouse. Check out that view! What a great location.

New equipment, technology and practices will allow us to streamline, increase efficiencies, and focus on meeting our clients’ needs.  A well stocked office kitchen for our staff to refresh and refuel is also highly anticipated.

We are pleased (for the moment) to hear thumping of jackhammers and whirring of drills throughout the building. Eventually we will be able to move into a brand new suite that has been professionally designed for Wallace Wason, PLLC so it’s worth it!

Demolition Phase

Now that the old furniture, fixtures and partition walls have been removed, it is easy to appreciate the overall size and location, not to mention the amount of work ahead.

Our build out will include multiple private offices including a large corner office with new windows looking out over King Street and N. St. Asaph as well as two conference rooms outfitted with the latest technology.  Additional office spaces and work areas are designated for paralegals and support staff whose hard work allows the attorneys to focus on the law and moving our clients’ cases forward. The whole suite will offer plenty of space for our staff to expand as our practice grows.

Look at that expansive space! Look at all that light!

The outside of the office building is also getting a much needed facelift.

Improvements will include removing the enormous clocks and installing new windows to the brick columns on the corner of the 515 building at King and N. St. Asaph Streets and the other end of the building, mid-block. An updated and modern paint scheme (see color samples below) will replace the bland blond brick and concrete façade. Rumor has it that a roof-top deck will be outfitted and available for building occupants to enjoy.

Here are details from Douglas Development’s 2022 proposed plan:

  • A new painted exterior to the brick building marked “Restoration Hardware Grey” in the image, however, see actual swatches on building in July 2023, below.
  • Additional storefront windows on King Street and South St. Asaph Street
  • Storefronts extended to meet current columns, increasing the ground floor storefront occupancy space
  • Entrance to the office building lobby will sport a new canopy
  • Instead of a “planter box,” the building will have an “address sculpture” (we’ll let you know when we know!)
  • Fifth floor roof deck facing King Street
  • ADA accessible from King Street with a raised sidewalk and railing.

In addition to its other perks, the 515 King Street building has parking, which is an unusual feature for Old Town commercial buildings. A gym is planned as well as shops on the ground floor, in addition to the Tatte Bakery location expected to occupy the prime space on the corner of King St. and N. St. Asaph across from the our local Starbucks, and Chipotle.

Tatte Bakery & Cafe

In addition to the progress being made on our law offices on the fourth floor, the former bank space on the ground floor is currently being renovated for another DC Metro location of Tatte Bakery & Cafe.  What a sweet treat!

We’re thrilled to be in such a dynamic building.  Our excitement builds as we observe the progress and we have the opportunity to meet our new neighbors in Old Town Alexandria. Check out our Guide for What to do in Old Town Alexandria.

Summer 2023 Update

Building renovations continue in July 2023!

Paint colors for the building exterior are being reviewed as you can tell from the photo, left. The space for Tatte Bakery Alexandria is gutted, and the multiple vaults that had been in the original First and Citizen’s Bank building located at 503 King Street have been removed. Whew! THAT was a noisy week or two.

Also, a TON of work is going on in our new office suite upstairs! We have framing for interior walls, lighting fixtures and sprinklers. We have samples of carpeting and flooring as well as other finishes for our new office suite (which we’ll be able to share soon!) and brand new restrooms have been completed on the floor.

Douglas Development

Finally, our thanks goes out to Douglas Development for taking such good care of us during the construction!
